Breaking Point is a prequel to Burning Sun. It focusses on the relationship between Ultimus and Vraxxon.
Story: (Don't worry it is Bionicle, the first couple chapters just take place in the human world, before we meet an alternate Bionicle universe.)
Chapter 1
"Ship has received critical damage, oxygen leak detected. Ship has received critical damage, oxygen leak detected," the alarm blared over and over. A red pulsating glow filled the ship. It's already cramped atmosphere seemed to be made ten times worse with the ominous warnings...
Many Years Prior
"So that gives us one more day before launch with nothing to do. Wanna go watch a movie?" Hazel asked.
"Depends on the movie" Andy Responded.
"I know what you are trying to do, and I am not gonna let you rope me in again,"
"Oh come on, we are one move short from finishing the Transformers Nonology,"
"You act like we are preparing to find Transformers on this mission!"
"It's a possibility!"
"Andy, we are looking for sentient life, not Cybertronian life,"
"Yea, yea... anyhow, what are we going to watch then?"
Hazel shrugged as she began browsing what her streaming service had for movies. "Wanna watch the third Barbie movie?" She joked. Andy just stared at her with a look she received all too often. She rolled her eyes in response as she went back to looking through the hundreds of options. As she was doing this, the door to their dorms opened up. Chuck put his toolbox on the table as the door shut behind him. "Ow me'y days ill we leave?" He sputtered out.
"We got a week before launch, starting tomorrow," Hazel said without looking up from the screen.
"Good, I be taken em all to ork on de ship," Chuck replied back, "ou two wanna grab a nibble,"
"Huh?" Andy asked perplexed by the gibberish Chuck just spoke in.
"A NIBBLE, yu know, a ite o eat, the-the good uff!" Chuck sputtered out. Hazel and Andy looked at each other trying not to chuckle.
"I don't have anything to do, so why not," Andy said hoping a chuckle wouldn't slip out. He looked over at Hazel, "You wanna join us?"
She got up, "Sure, I just need to be back in..." she looked at her watch, "About an hour and a half,"
"Let u' get a goin en" Chuck said as he grabbed his card. The other two waited for him by the door, and then the three went out into the halls.
The unit they were staying in was designed to mimic the stations they would be building, once they found sentient life. It was made up of many tubes that connected each common room, and by extension, each dorm. This unit held 77 people meaning these tubes could be quite quiet at times. This was one of those times. They eventually got to the cafeteria and found a few other crews hanging out, including another member of their own crew. "That makes four of us, where do you think the other three are Rick?" Andy said.
"On duty, on duty," he paused for a second while he thought about the third one, "Also... on duty? I think,"
"I see. We haven't had a crew meal in a while. We should do one before we launch," Andy stated.
"I like that idea," Hazel thought out loud, "I think I'll tell Sophie, she'll enjoy planning it. Anndd we'll be forced to enjoy those plans," she smiled while she thought about it.
"Oh shoot, I gotta head out. Don't want to get another penalty from being late," Rick stated as he got up.
"You got one yesterday, right?" Andy asked.
"mm," Rick nodded, "Don't intend on getting another before launch, sooo se ya!" He quickly shot out the door.
"Well, I guess we should get food before you gotta jet." Andy stated.
"Good idea." Hazel said in agreement. The three ordered their food, while Chuck looked at some ship diagnostics.
"A 'chanics ne'er off duty i' he" Chuck said in frustration. He looked up to his food being handed to him. He grabbed it, and the other two did as well. They then sat down after they paid with their cards.
"Dry as always..." Hazel muttered under her breath as she ate the chicken she had ordered.
"'ou don't use butta, at's why!" Chuck said as he drenched the chicken in a what looked like a pound of butter. Hazel just tried her best to not gag at the amount of butter used. Andy didn't even notice it however. He was lost in his thoughts. The last he had checked on his simulations, there would be a slight chance that radiation could penetrate the ship's hull. He really hoped it was just a rounding error, but only time would tell.
Chapter 2
Andy got his suit on and prepared for the last flight simulation. This would be worst test they can be given, and they were stuck doing it till they beat it. Sophie got in her position monitoring the incoming debris on the port side, while Gabriel was booting up starboard side's monitoring system. Rick was mentally preparing himself to copilot the ship, all the while Hazel was chilling in her captain's chair. Her face was calm and collected, although the test has been known to make faces like that fade. Chuck was up in the engine room as that was the most likely failure point, and lastly Lilly was sitting down into the port-side turret seat. While the others were getting adjusted into their positions, Andy had been struggling with his suit. For some reason, the backup oxygen wasn't being detected. This wasn't a big issue for this mission as it wasn't needed, but the giant warning that was flashing across his visor would block much of his vision. He walked over to Rick and asked for assistance, but as Rick looked over the suit, the door shut and the test began. With no more time to fix the issue, Andy sat down and accepted the lack of vision.
The ship simulator began to rock the ship back and forth, making it feel like they were taking off for the first time. Their mission was simple, get outside the solar system. Once they were beyond this point, the ship's autopilot would be able to fully navigate itself, but until then, they would need to help it. The ship began to stead itself as they started to see space fully manifesting itself before their very eyes. They all knew it was fake, but it was still breathtaking. They did have to be very careful during this segment due to the immense amount of satellites in Earth's orbit. The ship's autopilot should be able to weave it's way through them, but with the sheer amount of them there was always a chance it would miss something. All of a sudden something came flying towards the ship, Hazel began accelerating the ship so that they would miss it. All of a sudden they heard a sharp scraping sound as a red fail flashed onto the screen.
As they began their fourth try of the day, they were all frustrated by the fact they hadn't even gotten out of earth's orbit yet. With the sheer amount of satellites in orbit it made sense, but it still was quite frustrating for them. The ship shook to life again as they blasted off earth's orbit, but something was different this time. Every time they lifted it off, it picked a random day of the year, and a random time of said day. This day was different. As they got closer to where they had failed each time, they noticed less satellites and debris.
"Something is wrong here," Andy stated aloud.
"I think its a media ban day," Gabriel began to say
"You're right, look at the date. Huh, the one time of year where this challenge is easier... kinda strange we got it after failing three times," Lilly wondered. As she was speaking an important satellite began flying towards them. Hazel once again began evasive maneuvers, but this time she held nothing back. Immediately the ship began headed for max speed.
"What are you doing!?!" Rick shouted as he overrode the ship controls so he could slow down the ship.
"Give me a chance!" Hazel shouted back, as she retook control over the ship, "Every time we have gone slow and steady we have failed, maybe a little speed is all we need." The words left her mouth, as the ship went flying past the moon. The hardest challenge was over, now only two asteroid belts remained. "See, have a little faith in ya captain" She said with a grin.
Some time later they had reached their last challenge, the Kuiper belt. This was the only thing holding them back from success, and Hazel did not intend on letting it stop them. Immediately the callouts began, as Andy and Lilly began blasting a hole straight through the belt. "Wait, stop blasting, is Pluto in our path?" Sophie asked.
"Not from what the map is saying. Nothing of importance is in our path, so just blast straight forward to be safe" Rick stated.
"I wonder if it'll be the same when we get out here for real, cause man am I having fun!" Andy shouted with excitement as he blasted open another chunk of ice.
"You did all the sims, don't you know?" Hazel questioned.
"Yea, but not off the top of my head, all I can remember is that there is a dead satellite we should pickup if it ends up being nearby." Andy responded.
"Is that in this sim? I don't remember that part of the mission brief." Rick stated with a slight bit of panic.
"No, it shouldn't be. Although now that I think about it, I wasn't supposed to say anything till we launched... dagnabit, they're gonna kill me when I get back." Andy remembered. The conversation died after this, but the thrill of blasting didn't. The silence didn't last long however, as from out of nowhere the darkness opened up in front of them. They had made it through.
Chapter 3
Andy shoved one last Transformer into his backpack, it was Siege Mirage, one of his favorites. He then put it on, and felt the weight of the situation come crashing down. A slow sinkhole began to form beneath him as he started to sink. Lower and lower he dipped until the sharp scraping of the door yanked him out of it. "You ready?" Hazel asked him in a happy and excited voice,
"Yea, it's just..." his voice trailed off, "A lot"
